Morecambe Happy Mount Park
Happy Mount Park was opened in 1927 and, in its hey-day, attracted over 300,000 people each year. Until recent years the Park included formal gardens and flower beds, with areas for recreation which included bowling, tennis, pitch and putt and a paddling pool. A model village and a narrow-gauge railway also opened but the Park was best known for its Illuminations. The envy of Blackpool, Happy Mount Park was transformed into a magical world with tableaux and sets, all manner of lighting in trees, shrubbery and gardens, creating a special atmosphere, where families could stroll in peace and safety. There are now plans to return the Park to its original condition, where residents and visitors can enjoy its tranquillity.
